erek M.H. Hurdis is an Associate Lawyer at Bennett McIntyre Mysicka LLP.

Derek advises clients on residential and commercial real estate, wills and estates, and corporate law, delivering practical, client-focused guidance tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.

Born and raised in Carleton Place, Derek brings local insight and broad legal experience to their practice. He earned his Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia and completed his articles in Calgary at an international corporate law firm. This experience abroad has shaped his ability to communicate effectively with clients from all backgrounds and to approach his work with a thoughtful, relationship-driven mindset.

After completing his articles, Derek and his wife returned to Almonte to build their family and careers, with a shared commitment to serving the community they value deeply. Outside the office, Derek enjoys golfing, reviewing film, and spending time with his four dachshunds while embracing life as a new father to his daughter.
