Powers of Attorney

P

owers of attorney (or POA) sometimes called “living wills” are legal documents that allow you to select an individual or individuals who take care of your financial affairs in the event of absence, illness or incapacity. A POA for personal care allows you to name a person who can make health care decisions for you if you are in a state of incapacity. POAs are important for ensuring that your financial affairs are properly managed when you can’t manage them and that your health care wishes are honoured.

Our lawyers are experienced in drafting wills, specific trusts within wills and powers of attorney for individuals with varying family situations and business/employment circumstances, including couples with young children, disabled children, divorcées, mixed families and many other situations. We are also able to draw on our experience in court cases to identify common causes of conflict in estate management and to draft documents with the aim of minimizing disputes and maximizing timely, cost-effective administration.

Please contact Robert Mysicka or Scott McIntyre who would be pleased to provide you with a Will Questionnaire and prepare wills and powers of attorney that are tailored to your specific needs.
