Construction Law

I

n Ontario general contractors and subtrades who are working on a construction project have various mechanisms available to protect their right to be paid for the services and materials they deliver to property owners. The Construction Act allows persons who supply services and materials to an improvement to secure a lien against the premises of the owner in the event of nonpayment.

Robert Mysicka regularly acts for builders and real estate owners who are navigating the complex rules of construction liens. As a real estate insured lawyer with experience in civil litigation Robert is able to assist with lien registrations, lien discharges, perfection of liens through certificates of action in the Superior Court of Justice and advising on strategies for alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and or arbitration of construction disputes.
